Tasting Notes

The 2012 Revana Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has a stunning nose of vanilla, black Cavendish pipe tobacco and a hint of violet. The palate exhibits bright dark fruit and sweet spices amidst exquisite structure and finesse, followed by a gorgeous finish. This wine reveals a mouth-coating elegance with well-integrated soft tannins. Most assuredly a cellar worthy wine, the 2012 bursts out of the bottle with an eagerness that shines even when young.

Growing Season

The 2012 growing season provided one of the historically larger harvests in the Revana Vineyard. Very limited winter rains caused an early bud break, which translated to an earlier harvest. This also resulted in the vine stress necessary for small, highly concentrated berries producing a wine of deeply intense color and aromatics.

Bird and Raptor boxes were strategically placed throughout the vineyard to limit the need for pesticides. Also, selective cover crop plantings between the rows resulted in a more balanced vineyard and crop quality.

2012 was a vintage of bounty and quality, matching – if not surpassing – what we have come to expect from the Revana Vineyard.
