Ithaca Vineyard

Rutherford

Over the course of almost two centuries Rutherford has been the source of some of Napa’s most coveted Cabernet Sauvignon wines. A common and intriguing aromatic element found in Cabernet grown in this part of the valley is often referred to as Rutherford Dust. The great Andre Tchelistcheff, an influential 20th century Napa Valley winemaker, was once quoted as saying, “it takes Rutherford dust to grow great Cabernet.”

One of the newest and largest contiguous vineyards in the Rutherford AVA, Ithaca Vineyard is a newfound star of the region. Located on the northern end of the Rutherford AVA, this vineyard contains a mixture of gravelly, sandy and loamy soils. The soil diversity combined with the extended sunlight from being located at the widest point in the valley deliver saturated berry-like flavors, silky tannins and a hint of the famed Rutherford dust.
